Atlanta
Personal Defense was established to provide instruction
and personal protection using handguns.Our
instructors are all NRA Certified. Andy Kneller,
an Atlanta Personal Defense Instructor, has over
30 years experience in shooting sports, including
IPSC and IPDA in Australia. Kevin Parrish, another
one of Atlanta Personal Defense's Instructors, has
over 20 years shooting and hunting experience.
Both certified NRA Instructors offer the following
courses:
Outside
The Home - Scenario Based Training (2 hours theory,
2 hours range time)
* This course is NOT
an NRA course it is taught by Andy Kneller and Chris
Durant. Chris is a certified Law Enforcement instructor
that has taught threat prevention techniques to
various LE departments in Georgia.
Overview
of Courses:
Courses
are theory and practical. The theory portion is
taught in a classroom environment on a week night
starting at 7pm and the practical portion is taught
on a range in Atlanta the following night.
NRA
First Steps:
This
course is designed to teach the fundamentals of
basic pistol shooting, safety, maintenance and safe
storage. It is intended for people who have little
to no experience with firearms. This course will
provide a thorough introduction to firearms safety
and handling.
This course is 2 hours of theory and 1 hour of range
time. It satisfy's the NRA First Steps pistol course.
NRA
Pistol Course:
This
program involves an in depth training methodology
for pistol shooting. It is certified by the NRA
and on successful completion of the course students
will be presented with an NRA certificate. Safe
handling, correct grip, aiming, safe storage, and
loading and unloading of ammunition are some of
the lessons that are taught.
This course is 10 hours long and involves theory
and range time.
Outside
The Home - Scenario Based Training:
This
course is designed to assess and prevent a threat
in an outdoor environment. The course is designed
around various scenarios and includes techniques
for concealed carry, drawing from a holster, and
shooting on the run.
*Completion of first steps or basic pistol is a
prerequisite. Students are expected to bring 200
rounds of ammunition.
This course is 2 hours theory and 2 hours range
time.
